About Dominican Republic


The Dominican Republic is bathed by the Atlantic Ocean on its northern coasts and by the Caribbean on its southern coasts. With an area of 48,442 square Kilometers, The Dominican Republic has 29 provinces a National District, five from the Atlantic Coast: Monte Cristi, Puerto Plata , Espaillat, Maria Trinidad Sanchez and Samaná. The Atlantic Coast is almost all beaches and coconut groves ,united by the northern coastal roadway that covers its whole extension, being of a lesser category the stretch between Cristi and Puerto Plata, and the main high way from this city to the extreme, East of Samaná. The Duarte highway, goes all the way to Monte Cristi.

Of these provinces, Puerto Plata is the one who is most developed as a tourist offer since its capital, that bears the name of San Felipe de Puerto Plata, possesses the most important maritime port of the northern region and is the headquarter of the Gregorio Luperon International Airport. But hotel complexes are distributed all along the coast, providing national and foreign tourist the necessary facilities for an enjoyable stay.
